2015 Pinehurst Patriot's Weekend
The Pinehurst Patriot's Weekend is being held this weekend in Moore County, from Friday, September 11th to Sunday, September 13th. The weekend is designed to celebrate and honor all that military members do for our country and our communities. All events will be held at Tufts Park (1 Village Green Road West) in Pinehurst. Full of food, entertainment, ceremonies, and family-friendly activities, this weekend has something for every patriotic community member!
9/11 Memorial Ceremony
On Friday, September 11th at 8:30AM, there will be a memorial ceremony to remember September 11th, 2001. The ceremony will include a welcome, prayer, the ringing of the bell, and moments of silence to mark the events of that day.
Breakfast & Brushes Fundraiser
On Saturday, September 12th, from 8:00AM to 11:00AM, Tufts Memorial Park will host the Breakfast and Brushes fundraiser benefiting Military Missions in Action and A Stroke of Patriotism, two local organizations. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online or at Village Hall. They include breakfast, a canvas, and paint supplies. Attendees can donate their artistic creations to Sunday's silent auction, which will benefit Moore County veterans, and the aspiring artists will be serenaded by soul and rock artist Jason Adamo while they work.
Sundae in the Park
Sundae in the Park will begin at noon on Sunday, September 13th! Active military members, veterans, and first responders will all receive a delicious ice cream sundae for free. In the afternoon, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, country music artist Brad Long will perform during the silent auction benefitting local veterans. There will also be a display of antique cars to admire!
After this Weekend
The support for military members doesn't end with this weekend's celebrations. A popular choice for former and active-duty military families, Moore County is well-known for the ways that it honors and supports its military members throughout the entire year. It is home to an abundance of veteran-owned businesses, and the community constantly strives to show its gratitude to military families by doing everything from volunteering at the local military hospital to organizing support groups for military spouses.
Make sure to visit this weekend and experience this wonderful community for yourself!
