Advanced Manufacturing

Many of Moore County’s mid-sized employers fall into the category of advanced manufacturing. These businesses utilize technology (in some cases incredibly advanced technologies) to produce their products. Companies in this arena include Meridian Zero Degrees, Ingersoll Rand, and ATEX Technologies.

Technology is a fast growing segment of Moore County's economy—driven in large part by small to mid-sized companies led by local entrepreneurs. Examples of businesses in this sector include Accelerated Technology Laboratories, Scribner Associates, and Southern Software.

Another sizable component of Moore County’s economy is the hospitality industry, which includes Recreation, Food and Accommodations). With more than 1,000 employees, the single largest employer in this space is the Pinehurst Resort (Pictured here).

While it’s true that there are no military installations in Moore County, it’s also true that the nation’s largest Army Installation (Fort Bragg) is located right next door. In fact, many residents—particularly those in the northeast part of Moore County—are active-duty, reservists or retired military. And many of our businesses are owned or operated by former military personnel. Outstanding examples are K2 SolutionsFar Ridgeline Engagements, and Spiritus Systems.
