NerdWallet, a prominent online source of information, insight and consumer-driven advice about personal finance, has listed Aberdeen, NC in its top 10 places to start a business in North Carolina. 

The Town of Aberdeen, home to about 6,500 residents, is one of 11 incorporated communities in Moore County

NerdWallet's survey was based on U.S. Census data covering 121,462 businesses in 115 communities in North Carolina and ranked the communities based on two key metrics - business climate and health of the local economy (which covers factors such as median annual income, median annual housing costs and the unemployment rate.)

"Aberdeen has 540 businesses and roughly $1.5 million in average revenue per business," the NerdWallet survey identified.

Aberdeen, NC is famous for the Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway, the largest privately held regional freight railroad in North Carolina. It's also known for its idyllic historic downtown area, unique gift shops and cafes and local business, including Aberdeen's Railhouse Brewery
