The Sandhills region of North Carolina is a narrow strip of ancient beach dunes dividing the Piedmont from the Coastal Plain. Because this intact, diverse ecosystem is so rare and its history so rich, the Sandhills Heritage Gateway initiative was created by the Sandhills Area Land Trust to provide education and inspire conservation. Weaving together the natural and cultural history, this project explains how the land formed and in turn shaped the human experience that continues to this day.
Moving to Pinehurst from Sweden via New York has taught me a thing or two about relaxing.
